Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
A picture that I’ve been working on during my course. I’m kind of happy with this one, though I’m not too happy with how her face came out, it seems a bit wrong and I’m not sure how to fix it.
Here’s another character design that I had tweaked many times over the years for a potential RPG. He’s from the same idea that I had with the woman with the breathing apparatus. This old man’s name is Ezrel.
The idea here is that this old man has been on a personal journey for a very long time, having seen many things on his travels, he has become very jaded and bitter, but he’ll continue his quest till he breathes his last breath. He vowed many moons ago to hunt and kill the “yellow eyed man” that killed his lover.
At this point in his life, he is unsure about whether this man is still alive. Even if the man is dead, he still wants closure as to why his loved one was taken away from him. His eyes may be succumbing to the spores in the air, but he still knows how to shoot his pistols.
This character design has been floating around in my head for a few years now. Always tweaking it whenever I find my old drawings.
She was to be the female lead of a rpg I could make in the future, a kind of blade runner- esque distopian future set after some kind of calamity. She lives in a city that no one can escape, crime is high and running rampant, police are corrupt, jail is practically a BnB service for criminals. Everyone is slowly going blind by the very air itself, spores that pass through purifying systems and such. It creates a weird side effect where everyone’s eyes appear to glow.
A bit darker than my normal stuff, yes. The reason behind the breathing apparatus and the scars is that in the course of the story, she is attacked by a savage killer but barely makes it out of the encounter alive. Her design was meant to show that she’s strong yet fragile, sympathetic and potentially mysterious. Yet despite this, I never gave her a name, I couldn’t think of one that would suit her.
I might be able to make that game some day so.. early concept art? Haha
Illustrations drawn by me for my coursework. They don’t quite look how they look in real life, but I got the jist of them I believe.
This was from today’s lesson in my Games Design course. It was practising drawing realistic look faces for concept art.
This page was practising realistic eyes with references from pictures from the 1920s. It was fun but tiring on my hand
Something that I’ve been working on all day. These are characters that will be used in my next videogame assignment: a Gauntlet Clone. So from left to right:
A Marksman, A Fighter, A Warrior and A Mage.
Each character has been limited to 8 colours, and all have their own colour schemes to help differentiate from each other. Such as the marksman being mainly greens and yellows, the fighter being mainly warm colours such as red and orange, the warrior being made of shades of blue and the mage being made of shades of purple.
Note to self: See, this looks better future me. Semi realistic portraits with my cartoony style creates a nice looking design to characters that don’t look creepy! Also Beret.
